What’s the Extra Base for on My 1/2 Cordless Router?

I just got a 1/2 cordless router, and it came with a second base that looks just like the one already attached. I'm curious about the purpose of this extra base. Can anyone help me figure out what it's for?

That second base is likely a plunge base! It’s designed for more precise control when doing certain cuts, especially if you're working on projects that require depth adjustments.

One base is for dust collection with flush trim bits and dado bits, while the other is for bigger router bits since it has a larger opening. It's handy for different tasks you might encounter!

Thanks for clarifying! So each base serves a specific purpose, which is super useful.

The larger base typically accommodates a brass fitting, great for inlays and other pattern work. It gives you more stability in those detailed tasks.
