What’s the Going Rate for Lawn Removal, Regrading, and Seeding?

I have a 7,000 sq ft lawn that I want to remove, regrade because it's very uneven, and then seed it. I've received a couple of quotes: one company wants $6,100, while another quoted only $3,000. The lower price seems suspicious, and I'm wondering what this type of job typically costs. Any insights?

Out in California, just the sod can run you around 70 cents per square foot for tall fescue. If you're just seeding, that may change the price a bit, but ensure you factor in labor and prep as well!

Getting multiple quotes is super important! Usually, three quotes are recommended to find the outlier. In my experience, prices can vary significantly from one contractor to another. It’s also a good idea to ask about what’s included in their price – some may cut corners at that low rate.

Absolutely! I tried getting quotes too, but it’s tough right now. I reached out to eight places, and only two bothered to reply.

Honestly, I think grass and sod are often a waste of money. If you're not getting a solid deal, it might be worth considering other options for your yard.
