What’s the Latest on Dewalt’s 12V Tool Lineup?

Hey everyone! I recently received a 12V tool set that came with two 2Ah batteries and a brushed drill, plus I bought the DCF601. I'm really hoping to stick with Dewalt for my 12V needs, especially since I'm on the lookout for a more compact impact driver compared to the older DCF801. I've noticed their 20V sub-compact is smaller than the current 12V options. Does anyone have any updates on new 12V tools from Dewalt? Thanks a lot!

Sadly, it seems Dewalt isn’t planning to release more tools in the 12V lineup. You might want to check out the link I found for confirmation: toolguyd.com/dewalt-xtreme-cordless-tool-system-2025-update/

Aw man, that's disappointing. I have some 18V Makita tools for work, but I’d really prefer a solid compact 12V option.

Unfortunately, it looks like the 12V line isn’t seeing many new releases right now. They aren’t discontinuing the line, but there aren’t any plans for new product launches either.

That’s a bummer to hear right before the weekend! Thanks for the update though.

You’re probably not going to see more 12V tools in the near future. Also, while the DCF850 has a shorter head than the DCF801, it’s actually wider and heavier, especially with the larger batteries, so it’s not more compact in real-world use.

I had similar issues with my DCF801, which got super hot when I used it for some heavy-duty jobs. I ended up selling my whole 12V set after hearing they might abandon it. Maybe it’s better to wait for Dewalt's 20V tools to drop in price or check out Milwaukee’s M12 line, which has some great compact options!
