What’s the Longest-Living Plant You’ve Got?

I'm curious about your oldest potted plants! I've seen that many plants are said to live for a few years, but I've come across discussions suggesting that can vary significantly for different species. I'd love to hear about your experiences with any rare or unique plants. Specifically, I'm interested in varieties like alocasias, aphelandras, and dieffenbachias, as they seem less common in terms of longevity. If you have any success stories about jade trees or Christmas cacti, those would really inspire me too! If you're able to share some tips on the care you've provided, that would be awesome!

My jade plant is pretty special too! I got it from my sixth-grade history teacher, and I still have it while I'm in university now. It started as a baby from a fallen leaf, and while it hasn't grown much because I haven’t given it lots of attention, I'm just really grateful to still have it.

I’ve got a split leaf philodendron that I received from an older lady who could no longer take care of it; she told me it was a special anniversary gift from her husband 40 years ago! So, this beauty is around 44 years old now. It really shows how plants can become part of such cherished memories.

I have a marble queen pothos named "Rapunzel". She's been with me for about 6 years now and I love to trim her to start new plants. I used to have her trailing beautifully across my basement stairs, and now she fills a big barrel planter. It's fun working with her!

I inherited a hoya that’s probably over 40 years old from my grandmother after she passed. It used to hang in her kitchen for years! Plants really can become family heirlooms in a way! It feels great to keep that legacy going.

I've had my *Euphorbia leuconeura* for over 20 years! I got it as a small seedling from my grandma, and we’ve been growing together since then. I also revived a *Ficus benjamina* that was in really bad shape when I received it from my mother-in-law. It’s been a journey, and some of my other plants like *Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis* and *Cleistocactus strausii* have also been around for over a decade! It's all about giving them some love and attention over the years.
