What’s the Most Affordable Way to Build a Driveway?

I recently acquired some rural land and I'm looking to create a driveway that can handle rainy weather without getting stuck. However, I'm finding gravel to be quite costly over a long distance (about 100 meters). Does anyone have cheaper alternatives for making a driveway?

If you're looking to save some cash, consider using crusher dust instead of regular gravel. It’s usually cheaper and works pretty well for driveways.

My advice is to invest in the right setup from the start. Excavate the area, use geotextile fabric, and top it off with gravel. Skipping these initial steps can lead to problems where the gravel sinks into the ground, meaning you'll have to keep replacing it to avoid mud. Just removing the topsoil should do it!

100% agree! Skimping on the driveway just leads to more headaches and expenses in the long run. Do it correctly the first time and save yourself from constant repairs.

You might want to check out road millings as an option. They can be more affordable than gravel and are pretty durable too!
