What’s the Safe Distance for a Fire Pit from a Propane Tank?

I have either a 300 or 500-gallon above-ground propane tank in my backyard that fuels my home. I'm looking for guidance on the safe distance a solo stove fire pit should be from this tank. Any recommendations?

For safety, I’d recommend at least 30 feet away, but really, the farther, the better. You definitely don’t want any chance of heat impacting the propane tank, especially considering how dangerous a propane tank explosion could be. If you’re planning on having big bonfires, that distance is even more crucial.

Honestly, I would say at least 30 to 50 feet if your fires are big. Safety first! You don’t want to risk any accidents, especially with a propane tank nearby.

Most guidelines suggest keeping the fire pit at least 10 feet away from a propane tank. It shouldn’t be subjected to direct flames or extreme heat. Some people even go as far as saying that as long as the ground is fireproof (like tiles), 10 feet for a regular fire pit should be fine. Just make sure to check the specifications of your particular tank model for the exact clearance needed!
