I have some concrete steps that have sunk about 5-6 inches near my garage, and I need to pull them away safely without damaging the gas line above. I've already dug around the front edge for some anchor points to pull from, but I'm unsure what tools to use beyond a tractor. I'm looking for advice on how to safely remove or reposition them. I'd like to reuse the steps after filling in the hole behind them, as they are still structurally sound. Any suggestions?

A 5' steel pinch bar could be your best friend here. Pair it with some 2x4s as fulcrums, and you should be able to maneuver the steps by yourself.
Those steps look like they're precast, so they might be lighter than solid concrete. I'd suggest using a come-along to pull them out by hooking something under the front edge. Once you're clear of the gas line, you might just need a couple of strong folks to help move them inch by inch.
You could use a winch if you have access to one, but first, what's your end goal? Are you looking to reuse the steps or just get rid of them? If it's just removal, you might find it easier to break them down in place instead of moving them.
I do want to reuse them after filling in the hole. I’d prefer to reset what’s there if possible.
I'd just hook them up to my truck and pull them out, but that’s just my approach!

Great idea! I can borrow a come-along from my neighbor. Appreciate the suggestion!
