I recently got a quote from Rayne Water for a home water system installation. They mentioned it would cost around $6000, but I'm unsure about the details of the system they proposed. It supposedly removes a lot of impurities, and I'll have to refill it with salt monthly. Since my husband has already installed an RO system under the kitchen sink, I won't need that part. Can anyone share their experiences with similar systems? How much did yours cost and do you think $6000 is reasonable?

I managed to do my water system for about $1200 just for parts and materials. If you’re handy, DIY can save you a lot!
I paid $2600 for an Aquasana system and around $1500 more for installation. The perk? No salt needed, just a cartridge replacement every few years and a UV bulb annually. Go for a system that fits your water source too!

For a DIY saltwater softener setup, I spent around $600 to $800. It really helped having existing copper pipes that looped to the system; it made the install pretty straightforward!
