What’s the Typical Timeline for Renovating a Small Kitchen?

I'm in a bit of a bind with my kitchen renovation—it's about 100 square feet, and it's been three weeks since my mom's friend and his crew started. They come over every other day or sometimes even every other two days for just a few hours. So far, they've stripped everything down to the bones—walls, floor, ceiling—but it feels like they're dragging their feet since they're family friends. We really can't cook any meals, and it's been costly to keep eating out while living off salads and prepacked food. Realistically, how long should it take to finish this kind of project? I feel like with a small area like ours, a month should be more than enough. I plan to talk to them about it since they've been pretty unreliable and we're getting really frustrated. Any advice on what to expect time-wise for a kitchen this size?

It's definitely frustrating when they don't show up. I've been there! The timeline you mention—a month—sounds reasonable for what's left, especially if they just need to put everything back together. Since they’re friends, it might feel weird to push them, but you deserve to have your kitchen back! It might help to set some clear boundaries and expectations now, especially with your mom going away soon.

It sounds like you're in a frustrating situation! Generally, a kitchen renovation of 100 square feet can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on what all needs to be done. The fact that they’ve already ripped everything out is a good sign, but coming only a few hours every other day isn't ideal. You might want to ask directly for a timeline or completion date moving forward. Keeping a written agreement or timeline can help manage expectations in the future.

That's true! I had a friend who had a similar experience, and they ended up putting things in writing for their next project, which really helped.
