What’s This Hard White Substance Leaking from My Basement?

Hey everyone! A week and a half ago, we had our bathroom tiles replaced, and now I've noticed some weird white stuff leaking through screw holes in the basement. It's dripped down to the floor and is as hard as concrete. Any ideas on what this could be?

This might be efflorescence, which is a white, powdery substance that can form when water evaporates from surfaces and leaves behind mineral deposits. It’s common in basements, especially if you’ve got a new setup.

That's what I was starting to think! We just moved from Florida to Tennessee, and this basements stuff is all new to us. Is it supposed to be so hard?

It could be some of the thinset that was used to attach the tiles. Sometimes when you're working with tiles, some of that material can seep out, especially if there’s a little pressure or if it was applied a bit too generously.
