I've been noticing some weird white substance appearing all over my house—on the bathroom ceiling, doors, tiles, and even between the fridge seal. It has a gummy, translucent texture resembling white glue but comes off with a bit of pulling. Some areas look a bit fuzzy when I look closely, and there are fine strands that seem like thin hair. I live alone, with no pets or kids, and the only unusual activity I've done lately is some woodwork. What's strange is this stuff appears in places I haven't touched in ages, like an old hairdryer I left in the bathroom. The strands are just from some woolen socks I forgot in a laundry basket, and I noticed more strands where I sawed the wood. They seem to slightly 'jump' when touched, which might be static. This white stuff shows up mainly on wood, tiles, fabric, and furniture. Is it mold, bugs, or something else? I recently bought a couple of used furniture pieces that are pretty old, but I can't tell if they are connected to this issue. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

It sounds like you might be dealing with mold. A good step is to check your home for moisture issues, as mold thrives in damp areas. You’ll want to clean up this stuff right away to prevent it from spreading, and also consider dehumidifying your space if moisture is a recurring problem.

Isn't mold usually black if there's moisture? This stuff sounds different.
