I just got home from work and noticed some tiny bits of something under my prayer plant. To my alarm, I saw that some leaves had holes in them! I found a centipede hiding under one of the leaves. If the plant is in a closed room, how did these critters get in? Should I be worried about the leaves or the plant's health?

Centipedes don’t munch on leaves themselves, but they often come from the soil your plant is in. They can show up in indoor plants due to their natural habitat in potting soil. It’s not uncommon, but if they're causing damage, maybe check for pests that could be affecting the leaves.
It's actually pretty normal to discover little creatures like centipedes, ants, or spiders in houseplants, even if they've never seen the outdoors. Remember, plants are part of nature, and they bring some of that wildlife with them into our homes. Don't stress too much; they're usually harmless! Keep an eye on your plant, though, just in case.
