I bought a Milwaukee 12-volt impact from Amazon about six months ago, and I've been using it daily for work. Recently, I noticed a couple of strange issues: the headlight turns on by itself when the tool is just sitting there, and the speed indicator light on top stays lit constantly. This drains the battery, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Has anyone experienced similar problems or know of a solution?

Are you sure it's a legit Milwaukee? Sometimes sellers on Amazon can sell bogus tools that aren't authorized. Check the model number to be sure! It's pretty common for fakes to show up, especially with batteries and impacts. But if it's been working well for you until now, it might just be a quirk, not a fake.
If it’s still under warranty, I’d send it in based on the date code, even without a receipt. They usually honor that.
But if it's out of warranty, I've had a similar issue with my older Milwaukee tools. A bit of contact cleaner and silicone spray worked wonders for me. Just keep in mind that the triggers don’t have much protection, so they can collect debris. If cleaning doesn’t help, replacements are possible but you'll need to do some soldering.
Yeah, if it’s still covered, definitely take advantage of the warranty! As for the odd behaviors, sometimes it could just be from dirt getting inside. Flushing it with cleaner can work miracles. Just make sure you're careful when opening it up for cleaning!

It does have a Milwaukee model number, and it came as a kit with batteries and a charger. I've had my share of iffy batteries from Amazon before, but I never opened those packages. The impact has felt genuine, so this sudden weirdness is puzzling.
