I've been hearing different opinions on the ideal dovetail angle for hardwood, particularly the 8:1 and 6:1 ratios. I'm curious about what everyone prefers and why!

I usually go with a 1:6 ratio, but honestly, the strength isn't really affected too much by the ratio. It mainly comes down to what looks best to you!
I like to set my angle gauge to what feels pleasing personally, often using around 8 degrees off 90. You can get creative too—mixing angles for different parts of the dovetail can yield some stunning results. At the end of the day, it’s all about aesthetics, so go with what you think looks good!
That makes sense! I just wanted to see what works for others, since what pleases my eye might not be everyone’s cup of tea. So it really is up to me!
