Hey everyone! I've been gardening for years and I have a little extra room in my garden this season. I absolutely love gardening and enjoy the fresh veggies I get without the hefty price tags at the store. With grocery prices on the rise, I'm curious about what fruits and vegetables you all prefer to grow, especially those that can be pricey at the supermarket. I currently grow herbs, leafy greens like arugula, heirloom tomatoes, and hot peppers. This year, I'm trying out bush butternut squash since we enjoy it but don't usually buy it. I'd love to hear your suggestions for high-value crops or any new gardening ideas you might have!

For next year, consider garlic and shallots! They're easy to grow, store well, and have so many uses in the kitchen. Just be mindful of planting them since they take up space until late June, but they also deter some pests when planted alongside other crops!
I've been focused on building my garlic supply over the years, and this year I finally managed to last until January without buying any!
I’ve added plenty of perennials to my veggie garden over the years, like asparagus, strawberries, and even figs! My garden keeps going strong for ten months, so it's a year-round project for me. Good luck with your gardening!
That sounds awesome! I'm also trying to extend my growing season!
I planted some raspberry vines a few years back, and they keep producing tons of berries each year. I can't imagine gardening without them!
Herbs are definitely one of the best for saving money! They're so pricey in stores, and growing them is super easy, plus they don’t require much space. If you have extra, you can freeze them in ice cube trays or dehydrate them for later use.
I love growing oregano, basil, and thyme! Basil has to be indoors in my mountain location since it's sensitive to cold nights. Most of my herbs end up dried anyway.
What’s your favorite herb to grow?

I tried shallots this year but had poor germination. I'm looking to get garlic to thrive this fall.
