I'm on the hunt for a marking knife! I'd love to hear what brands you all prefer and what blade thickness works best for you. Any recommendations?

I typically grab a utility knife with a snap-off blade. It’s super versatile because I can adjust the length as needed and there’s no sharpening required since I just snap off the tip for a fresh edge.
I have a 1/2" Ron Hock marking knife that’s about 3mm thick. They also have different sizes at Lee Valley, like the 3/4" and 1/4" versions. I find that the spear point is a bit more work to sharpen but it’s totally worth it. Honestly, I prefer using them handle-less as they work great as a mini straight edge or for paring.
I’ve been using an OLFA CK-2 and I really like it! The blade is 1.2mm, and it's been perfect for my projects. I also really enjoy using a folding scalpel for tiny dovetails—it's thin, the blades are replaceable, and it clips right into my pocket, which makes it super convenient!

That sounds handy! I might need to try that folding scalpel for more intricate work.
