I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on their favorite stain colors and brands! I know this can be pretty subjective, but I'd love to get a sense of what works for you. What do you recommend?

Check out this pic of my latest project! I went for a natural finish on this piece; the wood looked so good on its own!
I've only used stain a couple of times, mainly to fix some wood that didn’t match its supposed type—like cherry that turned out to be something else. I tried a spirit stain and it worked fine, but I generally prefer to embrace the natural beauty of the wood without adding too much finish. For me, the wood itself is usually the star of the show.
In my opinion, hobbyist woodworking doesn’t really need stains. Stains are more useful in flooring and furniture factories where you have wood from different trees that need to be evened out. If you're working with boards from the same tree, you’re better off keeping it natural without messing with stain.

That looks awesome! I love the idea of highlighting the wood's natural grain instead of covering it up with stain.
