Hey everyone! I'm facing a lawn disaster right now. I over-scarified my grass, which left some bald patches, but up until the recent heatwaves, it was healthy and thriving. Now, about 90% of it's dead—like, I can scoop it out of the ground. With rain expected in the next week, I'm at a crossroads. Do I just leave it as is? I've noticed creeping cinquefoil trying to invade, and I have these large bald spots (20-40cm in diameter). There are only a few green blades left! I'm seriously considering giving it another scarifying, reseeding the entire area, and leveling it off with topsoil and sand since my soil is pretty clay-heavy. It's a big job (50-60m2), so I'm a little worried about the cost. What do you think I should do?

Honestly, I’m not too worried about it. It’ll bounce back just like it has every year before. Sometimes nature just needs a bit of time!
Sounds like you’re on the right track! Just scarify, sprinkle some seed, top dress it, and then give it some space to recover. That should do the trick!
I recommend seeding those bare spots with clover! I've found that grass tends to thrive better around clover, and it looks way healthier than dry grass.
I think your plan is solid! Just cut it down, and give it some time. Less is often more when it comes to recovery!
