I planted some Jerusalem artichokes just over 2 weeks ago, but today I checked and there's no sign of anything yet, even after brushing away the first few inches of soil. Is this normal, or should I be concerned about their growth?

No need to worry just yet! It can take a bit for them to break through the soil, especially if you’re in a colder area. Just be patient. Once they start growing, they’ll really take off!
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m in Cornwall too, and I’ve heard they grow quickly, so I guess I expected to see something sooner.
