I recently replanted my fall carrots after my first attempt failed to germinate. This time, I covered the rows with cardboard and made sure to water them frequently. They've just started to sprout, and I'm wondering when I should take off the cardboard cover. I'm concerned about the sun possibly harming my delicate seedlings. Would it be a good idea to keep them covered until around 2-3 PM when the sun isn't as intense? Any tips would be appreciated!

I’d recommend uncovering them as soon as you see significant germination. They really need sunlight to grow strong. Just keep the soil moist afterwards!
Instead of cardboard, you might want to try using chopped straw. It keeps moisture in, and those seedlings will poke right through it while also reflecting some heat—great for keeping soil temps down!
Once the seedlings are up and you're seeing more than just one or two, take off the cover right away. They’ll thrive with some sun exposure.
