Where can I find large wood blocks for carving?

I'm looking for large blocks of wood that are around 1'x1'x1' for carving purposes. Quality isn't my main concern since I've used construction lumber before. I'm thinking something like pine would work. Any suggestions on where to find these?

Finding a lumber mill could be a great option. You might even strike a deal with the owner—offer them a nice carving in exchange for wood! It's a win-win if you can work something out.
