Hey everyone! I recently completed a project involving a Raspberry Pi and an SSD1306 OLED display. However, I've been facing intermittent connection issues with the Clk and Sda pins (i2c), which I traced back to some subpar Dupont connectors I bought from China. I'm not keen on crimping my own connectors since I don't work on these projects often, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows where I can get high-quality, well-crimped Dupont connectors instead. I've never really found a "trusted" source for these connectors myself. These days, I just crimp my own wires! For an i2c header like you mentioned, I usually make a solid 4-pin female connector with a stable connection. You might want to check out something like this [link to product]. Might be just what you need!
Hot take: I wouldn’t recommend using Dupont connectors for anything that needs to be permanent. They're great for temporary connections, but I’d never give up my soldering iron!
I bought some crimps from Banggood, and they seem to be better quality since they’re not magnetic. Just a heads up though, I can't guarantee they consistently stock the same product.
I'd suggest looking at hobbyist websites instead of places like AliExpress. Check out Sparkfun, Pololu, or Adafruit if you want reliable options.
I actually tried this method! I got a great crimping kit off Amazon for 25 bucks, including a crimp tool and loads of connectors. Totally worth it!
