I'm looking for a good source for large quantities of specific-sized lumber—specifically 1/2" x 2" x 6-8' cedar or pine boards. I'm building a small truck camper and so far, the closest options I've found are furring strips or overpriced unfinished baseboards. I'd like to avoid spending hours ripping cedar fence pickets on a table saw if possible. Are there any online retailers that stock this size? Or is it feasible to special order? Thanks for any advice!

Check out the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association for resources! Here’s a link to get you started: https://g.co/kgs/2qtZgXJ. Not sure about your location or the amount you need, but it could be a helpful starting point!
If you can swing it, I’d suggest going with the fence pickets. I get it, cutting takes time but having the right tools makes a world of difference. Plus, you might have a local milling company that could do it for you—definitely worth asking around!
You might want to check out Ocooch Hardwoods for offcuts; they have both domestic and exotic woods that are affordable and can be delivered right to your doorstep. Super convenient!
Are you set on true 2” wide boards? If you’re okay with the 1.5” from standard lumber, ripping them could save you a lot. Cedar and pine are usually pretty inexpensive and easy to work with. I had a similar project and once I found my rhythm on the saw, it became kind of satisfying!

Thanks for the tips! I’m open to ripping down some boards if it means saving money and time in the long run.
