Hey everyone! I'm just starting out in gardening and I'm eager to grow some veggies. I'm curious about where you all get your trellises. I know there are options at HomeDepot and local nurseries, but is Amazon worth considering? Also, what should I keep in mind when selecting a trellis? Things like material, quality, design, and even environmental impact—any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

I've had good luck with Costco—they have some nice decorative yet sturdy metal trellises for my tomatoes. They come in sizes around 2 ft and 5 ft. Plus, I also made my own giant trellises using cattle panels shaped into cylinders, and I just hold them together with zip ties. You can even use those panels to create arches over parallel raised beds.
If you're on a budget, I'd recommend checking out Dollarama for smaller trellises. You can also browse Facebook Marketplace for some good deals nearby. But hey, if money's no object, definitely go for the fancier options!
Choosing a trellis really depends on what plants you'll be growing and their placement. Personally, I buy some trellises and build others. For small plots, I go with trellis netting on a frame made from 1/2 inch electrical conduit; for longer rows, I use t-posts with trellis netting. A great place for that netting is 247garden if you need it in bulk. Just remember, if you use any mesh, having a 5"-6" grid really helps when you're reaching in to harvest!
