I'm looking to upgrade my toolkit and want to get a comprehensive set of every bit and end that Dewalt offers. However, I can only find a 40-piece set in stores like Lowe's, which seems to have different extensions. Is this older stock or a different version? Also, what do people usually do with their old bits when they upgrade, especially when they end up with repeats?

I usually hold onto my old bits! You never know when they might come in handy, especially if you break a new one.
If you're looking for the Dewalt set, check online or retailers like Bomgaars, which were offering it for around $20. I just keep my old bits in my 'house bag' since they can break and might be useful later.
That 40-piece set is indeed an older version! I actually have it myself. If you see the 4-pack at Lowe's with the drill bits, that's a much better deal for the price right now.
