Where can I get wood cut for my DIY shelf project?

I'm trying to turn a sturdy piece of wood into a shelf, but it's way too long for me to cut by myself since I don't have the right tools. I know that big stores like Home Depot and Lowe's typically won't cut wood that I bring in, so I'm looking for alternatives. Are there any companies or local places that offer wood cutting services?

You might want to check out smaller local hardware stores. They often have better services for custom jobs like cutting wood than the big chains do. Just give them a call and ask!

Yeah that's my backup plan. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any chains that you could pay to do it. Thanks anyways!

Definitely check out local lumber mills! Many will let you 'rent' time on their machines or will cut the wood for you. It'll cost some cash, but it's probably the best option for a clean cut.

Oh I was already expecting it to cost me, don't worry. Thanks for the advice!

If you share your location, someone nearby might be able to help. Sometimes local Redditors have tools and can even do it for you!

I'm a teenager, so I'm not really comfortable doxing myself lmao. Maybe someone on Craigslist is offering something like that. I've seen weirder stuff on there.
