Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out where my downspouts lead since they go underground. Is it possible they're draining into a French drain? I'm a bit confused about that because it seems odd that rainwater would go into the French drain, only for the sump pump to pump it back out to my yard again, returning to the French drain. I also heard it's not legal to drain into the sewer system. Any thoughts on what could be happening?

You might want to check by sticking a hose in the drain and then walking your property line after about five minutes to see if anything pops up. There's also the chance that it drains into a drywell—basically a big hole filled with rock that helps catch and slowly disperse the water into the ground. That could explain why there's a drain in the middle of your yard too!

Thanks for the tip! I had no idea about drywells. That actually makes a lot of sense with the drain I have.
