I'm really struggling to find the right blocks of wood for making Noh masks. I need material that is at least 21 × 13 × 7 cm, and ideally, it should have a straight grain and be easy to work with. At this point, I'd even be open to suggestions for balsa or red oak! Any tips on where to source this would be greatly appreciated!

You could also consider visiting some carpentry forums or groups; they might have leads on where to find the specific sizes you need. Some members might even have pieces lying around they’d be willing to sell. Good luck!
Have you tried checking local hardwood suppliers or specialty woodworking shops? They sometimes carry larger blocks suitable for projects like yours. Also, you might want to look into online woodworking retailers; they can ship to you directly. Keep an eye on the grain; straight grain is usually better for that kind of detailed carving!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll start looking into those suppliers and see what I can find.

Great idea! I’ll check out some forums and see if I can connect with other woodworkers.
