I'm currently in Japan and I'm having a hard time locating traditional tools like hand planes, chisels, and saws. I've tried searching on Reddit and Google Maps, but I haven't had any luck. Has anyone found these tools while visiting Japan? If so, where did you find them?

You might want to check out Inoue Hamono; they should have exactly what you're looking for when it comes to traditional tools.
Not gonna lie, my first thought was to joke about heading to Harbor Freight! But seriously, I wonder if Japanese people view their tools differently than we do—like if they think of them as special pieces or just regular tools you grab at the store. Good luck on your search and enjoy your trip!
I saw a video mentioning that DIY stores might be a good option. Some of them function as workshops where people can create their projects, and they usually stock various tools. They might sell tools or at least know where to find them.
Here are a couple of English-language resources that could help you find what you're looking for:
[Brian Holcombe's Guide to Japanese Chisels](https://brianholcombewoodworker.com/guide-to-japanese-chisels/)
[Covington & Sons](https://covingtonandsons.com)
Check them out; they provide info on various makers, some of which are off the beaten track.

Whoa, nice! That sounds promising!
