I'm a hobbyist woodworker who recently inherited my late father's workshop. Unfortunately, I moved to a remote area in Utah with limited access to lumber yards, and the ones that are nearby aren't open on weekends. Most of my upcoming projects involve hardwood, which I can't get at my local Home Depot. I'm looking for recommendations for websites where I can buy small quantities of lumber at a reasonable price. I'm particularly interested in unfinished wood, as I want to try making some small furniture pieces. I don't want to buy a whole pallet, and it's hard to justify a long drive just for a few planks.

There are various online wood retailers that deliver, though prices can be higher per board foot, and you'll have to factor in shipping costs. Just a heads up, you can't see the boards in person, so you’re gambling a bit on quality and how they will arrive. Maybe plan a trip to some local sawmills or cabinet shops, even if it's a longer drive, it could save you some hassle overall.
You should definitely check out the Offer Up app for local deals on wood. Also, a quick Google search for "reclaimed lumber" or even "free wood near me" can yield some interesting results. You might be surprised by what local sellers have available.
I've never heard of Offer Up, but I'll look into it. Reclaimed lumber sounds appealing since I've done some reclaimed furniture.

I get that concern. The nearest place is a couple of hours away, but I might just have to make the trek—it's better than a stressful online order!
