Which Grout Removal Tool Should I Choose: Cutoff or Oscillating?

I'm looking to change the color of my grout and I'm trying to decide between two tools: a 3" cutoff tool with a dust remover attachment and an oscillating tool with a grout blade. Most people seem to favor the oscillating tool, but I already own both tools along with some hand tools like a triangle blade. My plan was to quickly use the cutoff tool and then detail the edges with the triangle blade. However, I'm starting to wonder if I should stick to the oscillating tool instead. What's everyone's advice on this?

I've tried both tools for grout removal. If you're looking for speed, the cutoff tool is much faster, but you have to be careful not to damage the tiles. If it’s a small area, I’d recommend the oscillating tool since it's safer and less likely to cause any tile damage. For larger areas, go for the cutoff tool but take it slow!

If you're just changing colors, the oscillating tool is your best bet. It’s slower, but much safer and less likely to wreck your tiles. Unless you have super steady hands, I’d steer clear of the cutoff tool for this kind of job.

I'd definitely go with the oscillating tool for a project like this. It might take a bit longer, but it's way safer and reduces the risk of messing up your tile. Just think about the results—you want to avoid any mistakes, right?

Yeah, good call on that one.
