I'm starting an apprenticeship with a commercial electrical company and got a grant to buy some power tools. I'm trying to decide between getting the M12 impact with the M18 drill, or going for the M18 drill/impact combo. Any advice on which would be better for my work?

If you're going commercial, definitely opt for the M18 gear. The M12 tools are more suited for residential work.
Whenever there's an M18 option, I lean that way. The M18 tools just tend to perform better overall, especially in a commercial setting. They’ve got the power you need for heavier jobs.
I really like the feel of the M18 tools. They’re comfortable to use, which makes a big difference when you're working for long hours.
I'd recommend the M12 impact paired with the M18 drill. The M12 impact has plenty of power for most electrical tasks, but honestly, the M12 drill leaves a lot to be desired. It’s just not that great for what we do.
Yup, that’s my setup too! I hardly ever use the M12 drill, and I'd pick the M18 impact for anything more demanding.

Totally agree! The M12 impact is fantastic for electrical work. I use it all the time. I mainly rely on the M12 for light tasks, but if I need something heavy-duty, I grab my M18 impact instead.
