I'm trying to decide between the Flexcut KN14 and the Mora 120 for a roughing knife. I mainly plan to carve smaller figures like Pokémon and little characters, but I also want to branch into spoon and bowl carving. I've already got my eye on the KN13 for detailing work. Any insights or recommendations would be super helpful! Thanks ahead of time!

I've been experimenting with different knives, especially for making clean cuts. I found that using super thin blades, like the ones from Pfeil, really made a difference. They offer smoother cuts! Just keep an eye on the thickness; some knives can make it hard to achieve those straight up-and-down cuts without tearing the wood.
I really like my Mora 120, it's easy to get and really reliable. I've got quite a few knives, but the Mora series is a staple for me. The Mora Companion is another good option—cheap and very sharp! Just grab a strop and some compound to keep them in top shape. As you get more into carving, you might want to look into specialty knives that cater specifically to your techniques.
For bowls, I haven't used knives with rounded edges on the outside; all my knives have flat bottoms. But when you find the right technique, those custom knives can really elevate your work!

Totally, those Pfeil knives are like razors! They bite into the wood nicely but can be tricky to handle initially.
