I'm trying to figure out whether rock mulch or wood mulch is a better choice for my front yard. I live in Northern California, where it barely rains for about 5 to 6 months each year. I'm looking for pros and cons from anyone who's used either type, especially since I want to avoid methods that need heavy watering or maintenance.

From my experience, wood mulch is great for keeping plants healthy and is easier to maintain if you have plants around. Rock mulch works better in areas where you don’t have any desirable plants because it helps with drainage, but it can heat things up a bit.
