I'm looking to maximize my plant health. I live in a cool, dry area with decent light, but I'm wondering whether I should invest in grow lights, humidifiers, or maybe both. I don't have calatheas or Alocasias, so what would work best for other plants I might have?

Honestly, grow lights are the clear winner here! I've got calatheas and ferns and as long as I keep them well-watered, they’re fine without a humidifier. Just make sure they get enough consistent light, and they'll be good to go.
Why choose? Both can be beneficial! But if space is tight, I’d lean towards grow lights first—they make a huge difference. But hey, if aesthetics are a concern about it looking like a greenhouse, maybe compromise with just the lights for now?
It really depends on the types of plants you have. If your plants are tropical and their leaves are getting crispy at the tips, you should definitely consider a humidifier. On the other hand, if your plants are looking leggy, that's a sign they need more light, so grow lights would be the way to go. For succulents, you can’t really go wrong with lots of light since they thrive in it. Personally, I use both—humidifier and a couple of grow lights on my plant shelf to keep everything happy.

Haha, I totally get that! My spouse feels the same about turning our home into a jungle.
