I'm in a bit of a bind with my woodworking budget and need some advice on which jointer to get. Here are my options:
1. Grizzly G0814 6" straight knife jointer for $1130 shipped.
2. Grizzly G0452Z 6" helical head jointer for $1342 shipped.
3. Grizzly G0855 8" straight knife jointer for $1775, but that doesn't include the over $400 I'd need to spend on a 150ft run of 8awg Romex to set up a 240v outlet in my rental house.
Honestly, this is already stretching my finances and if I go with the 8" option, I won't be able to afford new lumber for a month or two. I'd like your thoughts on what would be the best bang for my buck!

I recently picked up the Grizzly G0856 helical for $1675, but I had the power already sorted out from my car charger, which made the decision easier for me.
I'd suggest looking for an older used 8" jointer that's wired for 120v. You could save a ton of cash that way!
I actually grabbed a used 6" Craftsman jointer, but after spending a whole day cleaning it, the fence trunion broke! I'm now facing a $500 repair bill just to get a replacement. It’s tough to find parts for older models.
I lean towards the 8" jointer because of the extra cut capacity and likely longer bed length. Just make sure you can handle the price and installation costs first!
What's your current setup like? What's your planer and table saw situation?
I have a Dewalt 13" planer and a Skill jobsite table saw. I’m not a fan of the saw, but it’ll do for now.

Yeah, really smart to go used! You can often find great tools at a fraction of the price.
