Which M18 Batteries Are the Most Reliable Over Time?

Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for information about M18 batteries, specifically regarding their reliability and longevity. I'd like to hear experiences or data that focus on which batteries last the longest without failing, even at the cost of some power. While a higher capacity is a plus, my main goal is to avoid constant replacements and warranties. I'm not a huge fan of contributing to e-waste, so I want to invest in batteries that will stand the test of time. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I've been using a 3.0XC battery for about ten years, with tons of charge cycles! In my experience, the 2.0CP is more durable than the 1.5, mainly because the cells can handle the power tool current better. The same goes for the 4 and 5XC packs. I've never had issues with new batteries failing, and they’re pretty affordable too!

If you're open to considering other brands, some offer lifetime warranties on their batteries, which might be useful. Just a heads-up, though—modern power tool batteries aren’t really repairable anymore. If there's a cell failure, you usually have to get a whole new pack, which can feel wasteful, especially when you're trying to minimize e-waste.

From what I've seen, the 5.0Ah batteries are quite reliable, and the high-output 6.0Ah ones are also solid choices. I'm hoping the new Forge batteries will be just as great, but only time will tell since they haven't been out long enough to review extensively.

Totally agree! The HO 6.0s seem to be the most durable. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Forge series performs in the long run.
