I'm trying to decide between the Milwaukee M12 3/8 stubby and the M18 1/2 high torque impact wrench. As a casual DIY mechanic, I want to know which one would be a better investment. Should I go for the stubby, or is the high torque worth it for occasional big tasks?

Honestly, the M12 stubby will handle about 90% of your DIY needs. Just make sure to pair it with a 5.0ah high output battery for the best performance. Unless you're planning on tackling major projects regularly, the M18 1/2" isn't really necessary. But hey, if you've got the budget, having both isn't a bad idea for those 'just in case' moments!

Haha, true! But if this is your first power tool, maybe hold off on getting both right away. With that Home Depot deal, getting the M18 high impact wrench might save you more right now compared to the stubby!
