Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a planer and I've got three options I'm considering. First up is the Dewalt 735 with feed tables for $425—not heavily used according to the seller. Then there's the Makita 2030 available for $550, which comes with an extra set of blades and supposedly has had its rollers replaced three years ago. Lastly, I found a Makita 2030N for $450, which is the closest to me, but it looks a bit rougher and the seller says the rollers are 'relatively new'. I'm also on the lookout for a jointer; I recently picked up an old Atlas for $100, so I'm not worried about that aspect. My main concern is the availability of parts for these planers, particularly the 2030 model. Any help or advice you could give would be super appreciated since one of these options will only be around until tomorrow!

I usually would lean towards the Dewalt 735 since it’s popular, but that Makita looks like a gem! Just a heads-up, I’d be a little concerned about parts availability too. However, I’ve heard that parts for these are still around, as I know someone who restored one not too long ago and got all the bearings and rollers he needed.
In my opinion, go for the Makita that’s in the best condition! It’s known to be a solid machine and definitely a step up in quality compared to the Dewalt. Plus, if you want something that lasts, durability matters!

Oh wow, good to know! I thought the Makita was a less reliable choice because of that, but it sounds like it holds up well when maintained properly.
