Which Rough-In Size is Best for a New Toilet?

Hey everyone! I'm installing a new toilet in my tiny bathroom, and I've hit a bit of a snag with the rough-in size. It measures 14 inches, but I've heard mixed advice — some folks say I need a toilet with a 14-inch rough-in, while others insist a 12-inch would work just fine. I'd prefer to avoid any major flooring changes if I can use a 12-inch rough-in instead, especially since the 14-inch models aren't really suitable for my space (I need a round seat and ideally a 16-inch rim height). Any recommendations or insights? Thanks!

You can definitely use a 12-inch rough-in, but keep in mind that it will push the tank a bit further from the wall. Just something to consider when you’re planning the layout!
