I'm planning a complete remodel of my shower and I'm torn between using the Schluter shower system and the Durock system. I'd love to hear your recommendations! What are the advantages of each? Are there any other systems worth considering? Any tips or warnings?

I’ve used both systems. If you’re leaning towards a pre-made shower pan, I usually go with Hardi board. If it’s a custom tiled shower, then it’s definitely Schluter for me. Honestly, I’m not a fan of Durock—it feels kind of flimsy and makes a mess.
Durock is the worst! It's too flexible and the grit is annoying. I’d rather use Hardibacker any day!
Schluter is a solid choice! For my last bathroom reno, I used their kerdi-board and it worked like a charm. Cutting it with a utility knife makes things a lot easier. Don’t forget to take plenty of photos during your install; it'll be handy if you ever run into warranty issues later! Just be careful with the layers when applying the kerdi-board.
Did you buy a whole kit for the kerdi-board or pick out all the parts separately?

Ran into the same issue with a wonky stud. I fixed it by adding a metal stud next to it after planing down the bad one—solution solved!
