Hey everyone! I'm a beginner woodworker and I've just built my own workbench—super excited to start some projects! With Father's Day around the corner, I've been given the green light to hint at a tool I'd like. Right now, I have a chop saw and some hand-me-down handheld power tools like a circular saw. I want to make some decorative boxes for friends and family and tackle some home projects. Should I ask for a table saw, a router, or maybe a planer? I'm thinking a table saw seems like the most versatile option. What do you all think?

Man, I was going to suggest clamps, but if you can score a table saw for Father's Day, that's the way to go! You'll definitely need clamps later on, but the saw is foundational.
I'd say table saw is the right choice here! You can always grab a router later on the second-hand market if you don't get it for Father's Day. It's best to invest in foundational tools first!
For sure, table saw! If you're getting an entry-level one, check out the local stores and make sure it has a good fence. You deserve a solid tool for your workbench!
Yeah, I get it! Tools can be expensive, so better to get the basics first. Just wait until you see how much you’ll depend on clamps later!
