Which veggie plants have you sworn off for good?

I've been growing veggies for a while and have my favorites that always give me a great harvest without much fuss, like tomatoes and zucchini. I also dabble with a few maybes, such as beets and onions, but they require more effort. Recently, I've been reflecting on the plants I absolutely won't try again, as they just don't yield any results for me. Specifically, I've struggled with eggplant, peppers, and cabbages. It seems like the climate isn't right for them, either too hot or not hot enough. What have your experiences been? Which veggie plants do you find just aren't worth the trouble?

For me, it's cauliflower and celery. They just don't thrive in the heat here, and honestly, I can buy them easily at the supermarket. Why waste my energy on those?

I feel you on the heat! Some veggies just don’t stand a chance in certain climates.

Eggplant and peppers have been my gardening bane too. I see others thriving with them, but for me, it’s just tiny fruits when I should be swimming in them. I wanted to whip up salsa but ended up with a handful of mini peppers. What a letdown!

Exactly! I’ve had way more luck with tomatoes. They just produce like crazy!

Ugh, Brussels sprouts are my heartache. I love them but it just doesn’t get cold enough here for them to produce. I ended up just feeding the leaves to my chickens since they turned out so healthy but the sprouts never formed!

I've totally given up on beans of any kind. They’re just way too cheap at the store to bother growing them myself, and the effort to grow enough for a decent stock isn't worth it.

Broccoli is a total loss for me. It bolts before I can even get a decent crop, and it takes up so much space in my garden. Not worth it!

I was all about cold weather crops, but I've come to realize they're not working for me. The weather swings too dramatically around here. I might try growing them again if I ever get a greenhouse set up, but right now, it’s a no-go.
