Which veggies are must-haves for my balcony garden aside from tomatoes?

I'm starting a small balcony garden and, space being limited, I'm definitely planting tomatoes since I can't stand the taste of store-bought ones. I'm looking for suggestions on other vegetables that are significantly better when homegrown. My balcony faces south and I'm located in Minnesota. Any ideas?

Definitely consider growing peppers! They come in all kinds and really shine when grown at home. You can never go wrong with fresh peppers straight from your garden.

Herbs are a game changer! Fresh basil, thyme, and parsley can enhance your dishes in a way that dried herbs just can't. Plus, they’re super easy to grow on a balcony. Having fresh ingredients at your fingertips is a huge win!

If you're growing tomatoes, you should definitely add zucchini. Nothing beats the taste of fresh zucchini from your own garden. Sweet peas are also incredible—store-bought just doesn’t compare! You might want to think about cucumbers too, they're super rewarding and easy to manage in small spaces.

I've been thinking about either zucchini or cucumbers too. They both produce a lot for the space they take up. Sweet peas are great, but I don’t have enough room for them either.

Zucchini and cucumbers are the best! You’ll love having them fresh!
