I'm interested in making my own paste wax for fun! I'm planning to mix beeswax with some oils, but I'm still figuring out the right ratios. I already have boiled linseed oil and walnut oil, which I use for my homemade Danish oil, and I also have mineral oil for cutting boards. I've seen videos showing people using BLO or mineral oil to create paste wax. If anyone here has experience making their own, I'd love to hear your recipes, the ratios you use, and any advice you have! Thanks in advance!

For a food-safe option, I experimented with a blend of 50/50 carnauba wax and polymerized linseed oil. It was perfect right after mixing, but then it hardened too much overnight. I remelted it and added more polymerized linseed oil, and it improved by the next day!

I use a 4:1 ratio of mineral oil to beeswax for my paste wax. First, I melt the wax, then mix it all together. You can apply it while it's warm as a liquid or work it in as a paste. If you want extra durability and gloss, consider adding a bit of carnauba wax!

Thanks! I think I'll give your recipe a try.

I tried making paste wax with a 50/50 mix of paraffin and mineral oil, but it ended up rock hard! I eventually just winged it and added more mineral oil, and now it's much more usable. A tip: if you’re unsure about the consistency, keep it in a container that you can heat up again, just in case.
