It seems like my linear drain was installed incorrectly when I bought my house. I'm not sure who to reach out to for help. Should I get a plumber, a bathroom contractor, or someone else?

If the issue is related to the plumbing, definitely hire a plumber. But if it's about the tiles or the drain installation itself, then a tiler or a bathroom contractor is the way to go. A bathroom contractor can often oversee the entire process and bring in the right specialists as needed.
I get where you're coming from! I thought linear drains were permanent too, but you can usually get the top off for cleaning. It sounds like your drain cover might be grouted down, which isn't ideal. You might want to have a tiler or waterproofer check it out; they can assess the situation and help with opening it up for you.
What's wrong with your setup? Are you having trouble with clogs or anything?
A plumber can address issues with the drain itself, while a contractor can help fix any renovations needed afterward. Sounds like it might be a bit messy, but if you point out the problem to a contractor, they'll know who to bring in!
