I've been hearing a lot about Baird Brothers and their lumber, but I'm really confused about their pricing. I mean, I can just go pick up a board since they're not too far from me, but $180 for a single 6/4 x 7.5" x 6' white oak board seems way over the top! Even in the online lumber market, that feels completely outrageous at $32 per board foot. Am I missing something here?

You might want to compare prices with other local lumberyards, even if they’re not nearby. For instance, my local yard has 6/4 white oak priced around $11.65 per board foot, which is a huge difference. While Baird Brothers might charge a premium for their online service and convenience, nearly triple the price is hard to justify!
I get what you're saying! I usually go to a place that sells it for about $11.50 too, but their hours don't work with my schedule. I thought Baird would be a good alternative, but wow, that markup is shocking!
