Why Are Half of My Kitchen Ceiling Lights Struggling to Turn On?

Hey everyone! I need some help with my kitchen ceiling lights. I've got 4 lights up there, but when I flip the switch, only 2 of them turn on properly while the other 2 barely light up. It's weird because when I turn off the switch, those dim lights take their time going off too. I even made a video to show the issue. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Might be a few things! If you have CFL or LED bulbs, they could be having trouble. First, try swapping the bulbs around to see if the problem follows the bulbs or stays with the fixture. If that doesn’t work, take all the bulbs out and test with one working bulb at each spot to see the results. Let us know what happens!

Just a heads up, if they’re LEDs, you probably won’t find any traditional bulbs to swap.

Got it, I’ll try that and report back!

Have you checked if there’s a dimmer switch in the mix? Sometimes that can mess with the brightness.

No dimmer here, just the regular switch.

Those dim lights probably look like they’re LED. You could just pop out one that’s working to test if the driver or the LEDs are messed up. If they work with a known good one, the driver’s toast and needs replacing. If they still don’t work, sadly, you might need a whole new assembly since they usually can’t be fixed. Good luck!

Mixing different types of bulbs, like LEDs with incandescents, can create some strange issues. Try to use the same kind of bulb throughout to avoid those problems.
