I'm considering investing in a heated vest for the winter since my heated coat is kind of loose and doesn't provide much warmth over my layers. I was originally looking at hoodies, but the vest seems like it could be easier to layer with. However, I noticed that vests tend to be pricier than hoodies even though hoodies use more material. Is there anything specific about heated vests that makes them worth the extra cost?

Heated vests are usually designed for better layering. They fit snugly under thicker jackets, which means they don't add bulk to your arms. Plus, I’d recommend waiting until October when the newer hoodies come out; sometimes there are great promotions with discounts on heated vests.
Honestly, the newer hoodies just don't compare to the older models. The zippers were better on the 2015 versions and they had a warmer liner. I've had issues with wind getting through the newer ones, which is why I prefer the vest—it does a way better job at keeping warmth in without being too bulky.

Yeah, I find my hoodie is pretty useless against the wind as well. But it works decently when the chill isn't too harsh, especially if I layer it under something.
