I'm really puzzled! I had an awesome cedar supplier at a deck and fence store where the prices were half of what Home Depot charges. I went to buy some more today, only to find out they don't carry cedar anymore, just pressure-treated wood. I've spent the whole morning searching through different lumber yards and sawmills, but I can't find anything cheaper than Home Depot's prices. How is this happening? I thought going straight to the source would be cheaper!

Are you in the US? If so, a lot of that price hike might be due to the tariffs from the Trump era. It really shook the lumber market. But if you’re in Canada, you might not be feeling that pinch as much.
Actually, I'm in Canada too! I'm still finding cedar at the usual prices here.
Interesting point! I've heard that the US is self-sufficient in lumber production, so maybe that's why they're seeing higher costs.
